County Maps Online
A new website called "My County Maps"
allows you to view county maps for the States of Georgia, South
Carolina, and Mississippi, and soon Tennessee. The maps are displayed
as Portable Document Files (PDF) and can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat.
you zoom in on a map, you can see the names and locations of
cemeteries, churches, and community names. Some of the maps provide
geographical coordinates such as latitude and longitude, and township
and range outlines.
The maps were developed by state departments
of transportation, and are current maps, not historical. Genealogists
can access these maps free of charge through this website.
